Blinds Make Better...

We are proud to promote the BBSA’s national Blinds Make Better campaign, highlighting how shading products can have a positive impact on buildings that people live, work and socialise in.

In the UK, blinds, shutters and awnings have often been seen as a decorative window dressing or soft furnishing rather than effective ways to manage environmental factors that have a significant impact on our quality of life and our bank balance.

From adding style to your space, retaining or deflecting heat, controlling light levels and glare in addition to providing privacy, blinds and shutters offer a whole host of benefits all year round.

Award-winning blinds!

Grand Design Blinds are winners of the BBSA Excellence Awards 2022 prize for Best Internal Blinds Installation! Our project at a private house in Dalston, East London impressed the judges for the inventiveness and thought involved in the planning and design, as well as execution of the installation. The combination of triangular skylight and sloping-bottomed window was certainly a challenge and one we took great pride in being able to solve for the clients. You can see more information, photos, and videos of the project via the link below.

Working during the COVID-19 pandemic

The British Blind & Shutter Association (BBSA) has released the above guidelines for homeowners requiring blinds, shutters, and awnings during the COVID-19 pandemic. These are based on the Government’s advice for how best to reduce the risk of infection and we are ensuring we adhere to all recommendations. British Blind & Shutter Association Member

We are accredited members of the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA), the only national trade association for companies that manufacture, supply and install interior and exterior blinds, awnings, security grilles and shutters and associated motor and control systems.

The Association takes a leading role to ensure high standards of product, service and fair trading throughout the trade. Each member must adhere to a Code of Practice and is kept updated with changes to standards, requirements and best practice via regular communications.

Our membership gives our clients peace of mind that they are dealing with one of the best blind companies in the country, who are committed to quality and innovation, as well as responsible trading.

Recessed Gable Blinds

We have recently installed motorised Duette pleated blinds in a room darkening fabric for an apex window and set of skylights in the master bedroom of a beautiful refurbishment project in the Cotswolds. The gable blinds are fitted within Blindspace recess boxes so that they completely disappear when not in use, the perfect solution for showing off such a stunning window without blocking any of the view!

Happy Customers

On Bank Holiday Monday, we completed the installation of a large project in Oxfordshire - a stunning property with large expanses of glazing and some sloping windows. The customer was delighted and left us a lovely review on Trustpilot:

"Grand Design Blinds designed and fitted all of our blinds for a large contemporary self build with very large sliding doors and some unusually shaped windows. Their design service was excellent. Their advice was spot on. The solution is just what we needed and they are courteous, tidy and efficient. We really enjoyed working with them and cannot recommend them highly enough."

Eurostar Business Premier Lounge, London St Pancras

We recently fitted 57 bottom-up Duette pleated blinds for the Eurostar Business Premier Lounge at St Pancras International in London - the client required the blinds to be installed overnight and this, with border control and security to contend with too, made for a complex project. The lounge staff were delighted with the result, which made the space much brighter than with the old full-height dark roller blinds.

Eurostar Business Premier Lounge, Paris Gare du Nord

Grand Design Blinds were selected to supply tricky shaped blinds for large arched windows at the new Eurostar Business Premier Lounge at Gare du Nord in Paris. We provided remote-control roller blinds in a screen fabric, the arched sections pulling upwards from a custom-made timber box concealing the blind workings with the rectangular blinds dropping from below. Keep an eye on our project page for the final images in due course.
